“I got one for my one year anniversary with my smile sign. It’s just a little smile sign. The guy was really cool, he was watching ‘I Love You, Man’ the whole time while he was inking me up. But it came out really beautifully and I love it.”
SOPHOMORE NEWS AND DOCUMENTARY MAJOR MAX MANDEL HAS A WHITE INK TATTOO ON HIS LEFT WRIST THAT READS '86,400.'

“My other one is a white ink tattoo. It says 86,400 and that’s if you woke up every day with $86,400 in your bank account that never carries over so no matter if you spent a penny or you spent the whole thing, at midnight the account totally wipes and then a split second later, it’s back to $86,400, you’d spend it all, right? You could buy anything for yourself, your friends and your family, you’d never have to work an awful job, you could travel the world, pursue your dreams and do the things you’re passionate about. Well, every day, you have 86,400 seconds to spend and you have to choose how you want to spend those seconds."
SENIOR ATHLETIC TRAINING MAJOR STEPH MOCK'S NEWEST TATTOO, TWO DAYS AFTER SHE GOT IT DONE.

“The one that I recently got, the one on my chest, it says Corinthians 13:4-10. It’s part of the Bible. I’m not super religious but I do respect religion, but it’s basically about love. I spent a lot of my life being judged, so I extend the favor that my friends extend to me. You don’t judge someone before you meet them, you have to get to know them before you can actually tell who they are. My last one is kind of like I’m anchored in my faith and I’m anchored in my own hope that people can be better.”

“My first one is on my wrist. It’s my last name. I has a lot of crazy history behind it, which is a little psycho. It’s been a lot of being made fun of and a lot of psychological stuff and that’s the reason why I got it on my wrist.”
SENIOR ATHLETIC TRAINING MAJOR STEPH MOCK HAS A WATER COLOR TATTOO THAT RUNS ACROSS THE LENGTH OF HER BACK.
“It spans from shoulder blade to shoulder blade. It’s my family crest from my mother’s side. It’s traced all the way back to the first clan of the samurais, I’m half Japanese and half Chinese. And then there’s sparrows on either side. The sparrows represent protection on my family, I protect my own. Then there’s a set of music notes over the top that’s the first set of music my grandma taught me when I was a kid and it was all played by ear, so it’s one of the only songs I can play really by heart so it’s the first set that she taught me and then I taught myself the rest of the song when she died.
SENIOR ATHLETIC TRAINING MAJOR STEPH MOCK HAS A TATTOO OF A COMPASS AGAINST A WORLD MAP ON HER RIGHT SIDE.

“My third one is on my ribs. It has a quote that says: ‘We long to touch every corner of the world.’ It has kind of a map behind it along with the world compass so every country I travel to, depending on where I live, is what part of the compass that it sits on.”

“I have a big one on my thigh that’s of a gypsy in a picture frame. The picture frame was just for styling but I got the gypsy because gypsies represent independence and freedom and they just go to the beat of their own drum.”

“I have a Sailor Jerry style, traditional pin-up girl on my calf. She’s wearing a sailor uniform and that one I got to represent my high school mascot, we’re the sailors and she’s blonde. She’s supposed to be me and she’s holding a Washington apple and I got that because my first year, I went away to the University of Washington so it just kind of represents me as a whole.”

SOPHOMORE BUSINESS ENTREPRENEURSHIP MAJOR MAX GENERALI HAS A TATTOO OF A TREE THAT REPRESENTS YIN AND YANG ON HIS RIGHT THIGH.
“The tree is half dark and half light, half alive and half dead so a lot of it is about balance, it’s like a yin and yang sign except with more of a twist. It has a lot to do with balancing things and being safe and controlled in your own environment and yourself. That’s a huge thing between my mom and I. She used to use the expression, ‘The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.’”
