Extreme sports, defined as dangerous pursuits with a younger-than-average target demographic and a counter-cultural ethos by Extreme Sports News, came into focus during this winter’s Olympics in Soci.
For the first time ever, Olympic events were held in Ski Slope style, as well as Ski half pipe. There are few greater platforms for the promotion of sports than the Olympics, and the featuring of what were previously considered more fringe sports is a huge step forward in the mind of most extreme sports fans.
